sponsor love and giveaway :: art asana

September 3, 2010

A big thanks to artist and yogini Eliza Lynn Tobin for offering today’s giveaway and for her lovely support of the wishstudio!  today you can enter to win this gorgeous yoga inspired 8×10 fine art print.

Eliza grew up in rural Vermont and began making art at a very early age under the influence of highly creative parents. She studied oil painting in High school with her father, a landscape painter, and then went on to get her B.A in Fine Arts. She spent two semesters abroad where she studied art history and figure drawing in Italy, and Tantric Art in India. It was during this time, that her love affair with yoga began.

Utilizing her spiritual practice of art-making, Eliza hopes that her work will inspire others to reach for their own creative potential!  Using mixed-media, collage, acrylic paints, sharpies and more, she visually expresses themes that arise from her yoga practice and studies. She is currently working on a master’s degree studying “yoga and the creative process” and participating in a yoga teacher training, both of which are very influential in her artistic work.

Her shop is entitled “Art Asana” because asana is the sanskrit word meaning “pose” or “seat” and the intention behind Art Asana is for Eliza to take her seat as an artist and create work from her heart to inspire and uplift the hearts of others!

To enter to win this print, please leave one comment on this post by wednesday, september 8th and share what your practice or asana  is.  a winner will be chosen and then announced on 9/8 in the wishstudio cafe (under giveaway winners)!

I follow Eliza’s blog and smile every time I see a new post waiting in my RSS reader – her words and work are so genuine, beautiful and refreshing!
If I’m really honest, my ‘asana’ in life is creating, healing, becoming, inventing myself… trying to whittle away the aspects of myself that stand in the way of blossoming – but retain the wisdom of them. It will be a lifelong process and I often feel I’m crawling along slower than a snail.
but at least I keep crawling :)

This is such a beautiful print! I’ve always been a fan of the headstand and feel so much clearer after it. I suppose my asana right now has to do with developing the baby inside me.

Beautiful and happy to learn of her. My asana is solitude, not loneliness, which contains various forms of meditation, relaxation, writing, reading and creating/cooking. I just love living inside my head when I have the time! It’s so loud being human. : )

OMG I am a dabler of sorts in drawing and painting, and honestly this is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen. The color scheme is amazing a gorgeouse. Very nice work.

i can honestly say, after years of practice and teaching that finally my life is my asana. although, happy baby (ananda balasana) is a pretty great pose if you can still nibble on your toes like my daughter :)

i’m sorely missing a creative or spiritual practice right now, but doing vinyasa twice a week def grounds me.

such a big fan of her work! it is totally inspiring, authentic and so creative! sad to admit that lately my asana has been less on my mat, but happy to say more integrated into my daily life, remembering to breathe, let go, surrender to grace, etc. as the fall approaches, i’m recommitting to carving out time for me to practice, even if it’s for 10 minutes or just one pose a day.

  19. yanina says:

beautiful art work! thanks for the chance to win.

  20. Audrey says:

I love Eliza’s work. She recently kindly extended herself to speedily send a print of “Bright Light Backbend” to me as a friend’s birthday gift, which is very loved. While I’ve had many practises over the past years, I seem to consistently return to stream of consciousness writing as a morning settling tool. Other practises have included Salutes to the Sun, 5 Tibetans, running & meditation. I am going to rebegin to include some physical activity as I know the benefits are huge. Thank you for the reminder :-)

  21. Rebeccah says:

  23. Eliza says:
